It’s funny how life can take new meaning.
You came and changed what I believe in.
The world on the outside’s trying to pull me in.
But they can’t touch me…
Cause I got you.
Powerful lyrics written over two decades ago. Isn’t it crazy how they stand strong today? How hard that song hits now, in the midst of a complicated and sometimes depressing world? This song, those lyrics, those vocals, those emotions, still manage to be a light in the dark. It speaks a lot to not only the beautifully written song, but the emotion that the vocals carry to bring the song alive. Nick was so young when he recorded this. He was barely into his twenties. Now he’s in his forties, touring the world on his own and these lyrics basically summarize this entire tour as a whole.
This isn’t a review of the tour, not really. I did that and really the summary of that post was that I loved it. These are more, thoughts as it all wraps up. Nick leaves it all on the stage. He leaves his passion, his dedication, and his story all on the floor for the world to see. It’s done without an inch of hesitation, which is something to be admired. It says everything he can’t say right now. It’s therapeutic – his words, not mine. But not just for the fans, though music really can change a life. It’s therapy for him too. That sort of thing brings a connection that’s made during these shows. There’s something so vulnerable about that and it’s why this tour is like no other he’s done before. It’s just Nick, asking you to take him as he is.
And this truth has really motivated the fans as well. Now, we fans have our issues. Are we a family? Absolutely. Are we dysfunctional? Again, absolutely. I’m not going to pretend we aren’t. None of us should. But when we unite in a cause, when we come together when it truly matters? We can make some beautiful things happen. It never ceases to amaze me. It’s why I love our fandom at the end of the day. What started as a hashtag on Twitter back in the end of 2022, #WeGotYou transformed into more when Nick began the international legs of his tour Fans were inspired and city after city campaigns began. It happened all around the world, and carried it’s way into the US as well. It was simple, really. Different signs were designed saying We Got You as a reminder to Nick that not only are we not going anywhere, that he is loved and we as a fandom are standing by him.
We stood as one, letting him know we’re still here.
How wonderful is that? Nick, within the group and outside of it, has been creating music for so long. He’s talked multiple times about how music really creates a connection and can give people an escape, at least for a little while. As an artist he’s given so much back to the fans over the years, it warms my heart more than anything else to see it given back. To show that this really does go both ways. You don’t see that in every fandom. This tour has been something so special. It’s a tour of love, of support, of knowing we are in this together. Both sides knowing it, and almost feeling at peace within those feelings. Because we have each other.
No matter what happens.
It’s strange to see the tour ending, at least for now. Who knows, if BSB don’t do anything in 2025 he’s said he’ll keep it going. As much as BSB has my heart first, I wouldn’t be upset about that. Mainly because these shows, felt like coming home. I know I’m not the only one who feels that way. Seeing Nick be truly humbled and touched by all the little fan-actions that have been happening again and again. Surrounded by people who are here for the same reason I am, people who understand. Friends I’ve made because of this man right here. And if it is the end?
I don’t think we’ll ever forget this tour, and I don’t think he will either.
Nick, you showed us who you are.
We made sure we showed you that we got you.
Always.
