Congrats Nick and Lauren, and Thank You For Being So Open With Your Journey

Well if you’ve been underground for the past twenty four hours, I’ll break the news for you. Nick and Lauren are expecting their third child! And while Nick being the only Backstreet Boy with more than three kids is absolutely freaking adorable, that’s not the full reason of why I’m here blogging. I’m here because of the video and article that came with it. They got me and many fans emotional and that’s because of how open they both have been with the ups and downs that have come with adding to their growing family.

Because for whatever reason, miscarriages are seen as something to be made ashamed of. Women can be made to feel like they failed somehow because they couldn’t complete a viable pregnancy and that’s wrong. It’s never talked about and it should be. It’s far more common than people realize and it’s so heartbreaking a thing to happen to begin with. Then to be forced to feel like you can’t talk about it? To feel shame? That’s not okay. Because Lauren was right in saying that it’s no one’s fault if you lose a baby that way. Sometimes there’s just nothing you can do.

And that’s why I commend the Carters for not hiding the fact Lauren has miscarried in the past multiple times. I love that Lauren and Nick share their journey with us so that it could help others. I also find it commendable that they admitted in the interview that they had considered getting a surrogate so they could have more kids, another thing no one should feel wrong for doing.

I think however, my favorite quote in the entire article is this one.

“I have always wanted to love somebody, someone unconditionally and give everything to those people, my wife, my kids, and be selfless,” he adds. “Now that I have it, yes, I am living my dream and I am very grateful for that and very blessed.”

Tell me your heart doesn’t just do a little squeeze when you read that. Because we all know why that’s the case. And I’m so happy that Nick has found that with Lauren and their little “croc-lings” if you will. Just know that fans are so proud of how far you’ve come, Nick. We all see how happy you are just being a good husband and a good dad, and that’s amazing.

Thank you both for being so open with the world and we can’t wait to meet the newest Carter.

  1. I love how open they are about it, I have myself delt with the horrible pain of a miscarriage. And there is nothing you can do. But I am blessed with a beautiful boy and girl, things happen for a reason. They are a wonderful example of a family. Wish them all nothing but the best thanks for writing this piece. ♥️
