One thing for any fan of Nick Carter that they need to learn pretty quickly is that he doesn’t like to sit still. When Nick is inspired? He’s inspired and doesn’t let any grass grow beneath his feet. Case in point? It’s been less than a year since Nick gave us his latest solo album Love Life Tragedy, yet he’s already back in the studio working on his next project. And because Nick does have a habit of saying “soon”, he even made sure to give us some teasers. Plus, he loves to get fans excited.
Not that we’re complaining.
Mind you, this is some of the only down time Nick has considering the Backstreet Boys have a pretty full plate this year. Their viral residency over at the Sphere in Las Vegas got extended into the end of August, and they have a shorter residency in Germany in the fall. I would bet that they’ll add more Sphere dates in the winter as well. Nick has also been talking in interviews about tracks I’d personally thought he’d forgotten about, Boyband Song and Good Times – two songs he previewed to fans back in 2021 at his Album Listening Party in Las Vegas. So is this album going to be all new songs or is it going to be a mix of songs he still wants to put out there and what he’s currently working on in the studio? Hard to say.
Not to mention, speaking of new songs – we get the long awaited Love Life Tragedy song this week. He previewed this song to fans in October during one of the soundcheck parties in Chicago. Loved what I heard then and so I’m excited to hear the full polished product. He spoke then about considering doing a Love Life Tragedy “Part Two” album. Is that what this new record is going to be, or is Nick going in a new direction? Looking at the lyrics in that teaser (yes I zoomed in and looked, of course I did.), I’m leaning towards a Part Two. That said, I don’t want to jump the gun. Nick’s already told fans he’s got around a dozen songs written, and that he worked on six last week in the studio.
Now I know what everyone is going to ask next, does this mean we’re getting a solo tour?
This is just my opinion, I have no evidence to really support this beyond a hunch. But honestly? I don’t think so, at least not in 2026. Before you guys get angry with me, hear me out! There’s a lot going on in the land of Backstreet right now. And we know based on their history that if something for the group comes up Nick will cancel whatever he has going and put the group first. Whether or not fans agree, that’s just how it goes. Because of that, I can’t see it happening. I think we might get a handful of one off dates at best, or maybe a sprinkling of solo events during the residencies to tease and test out the new material. (Maybe the last part is wishful thinking – Nick if you see this, consider this idea please!) I love Nick solo and lately if I’m being completely honest, I’ve been connecting to it more in some ways than the group material. I’d love a solo tour. I just don’t want you guys getting your hopes up when I sense we won’t be seeing one for awhile.
Either way, Nick is definitely keeping busy and really, that’s something to be happy about!
What do you guys want to see from this album?
Should I do a post tracking all the updates we get for it?
Let me know in the comments and I’ll be back with my review of Love Life Tragedy once it’s out this week!
